Let’s Explain the New Gladiator Heroes Multiplayer System

PvP takes on a whole new meaning with these changes to Gladiator Heroes’ multiplayer system.

Lanisate, do you have what it takes to face a new challenge every week? It’s time to step into the new multiplayer arena and prove your worth as an invincible fighter – every single week.

That’s right; our total overhaul of the multiplayer system means that every week the tables are reset, and you have to fight to stay at the top of the rankings before the next season ticks over.

Each week, you’ll be randomly grouped with 20 other lanistae of a similar fame level. It’s important to note that no two rankings are the same; every lanista will see his or her own table. While in your table you might be at the top, if you appear in your friends table you could be languishing near the bottom, due to different opponents in their PvP group.

This means that you have to focus on topping your group and your group alone; put aside all distractions and keep your eye on the prize – gems and Merchant tokens!

Depending on your position at the end of the week, you’ll earn a certain amount of gems and gold, silver or bronze tokens. These will allow you to purchase Merchant chests and upgrade your weapons and armour for the following week’s challenge.

To top the table you need to earn points, and not fame like before. These points can be earned but not lost – even after a period of inactivity or a defeat. In fact, you even win a small amount of points after a defeat; regular fighting is rewarded here.

If you’re a big time lanista who wants to show off on the global stage; fear not. The worldwide, local and Facebook friends rankings are still visible for your bragging rights.

There have been no changes to the clan war system, but this multiplayer facelift means that group battles are as important as ever to earn those highly sought-after Merchant tokens.

Lanistae, it’s time to dust off your armour and sharpen your swords – a new, legendary multiplayer is here and it’s giving you to be a champion every day of the week.

Clan Perks and the Hand of Zeus: More new features in Gladiator Heroes

Just a few short weeks on from the mighty addition of Leonidas and the Temple of Myths, we’re bringing yet another update with some long-awaited features. Find out what’s new to Gladiator Heroes, and what’s to come…

Make the most of clan perks

Lanistae; we’ve teased you with the addition of Clan Perks ever since the Wars began back in January, and now they’ve finally been added to the game!

By building on your clan’s overall experience, you can unlock great benefits for all your teammates; from increased orb donation allowances, to reduced training times…

Every time you play in a clan battle, you gain up to 10 points in clan experience, which goes towards your clan’s overall tally. So, with a maximum of 50 players in a clan, the highest your team can score from one battle is 500.

As you increase your experience level, you’ll unlock new clan perks, which will be available to every member of the clan.

Prepare for new mission levels

In addition to the long-awaited clan perks, our developers have added 11 new levels to the game; including a never-before-seen arena.

The Hand of Zeus, an ancient, stone battleground perched precariously above the turbulent sea, is the only arena where gladiators can be pushed off the sides.

To combat this, try using gladiators with the stone feet skills, or two-hand gladiators, who can’t be pushed.

On the other hand, incorporate gladiators with pushing skills, such as jump shockwave, shockwave, dashing push or charge, to throw your opponents off the side of the arena and to their grizzly death in one, quick blow.

Extra improvements

On top of these new features, our developers have been working hard to solve a few more issues in game, such as loading times, cross-device synchronisation, and some combat crashes.

They’ve also fixed the additional attacks skill, and made Leonidas available to fight in clan battles.

A gladiator’s work is never done…

As we head into the summer months in the northern hemisphere, and our gladiators (and developers), are getting ready to take a well-deserved break, we’re aiming to bring you at least one more update before beach mode sets in.
The main focus for following updates will be the Temple of Myths; new heroes, and improving the stats of current heroes.

Many lanista have expressed concern over the power of Leonidas. While his overall power may be less than some five-star gladiators, his unique skill set means that he often lasts longer in battle, and can overcome some opponents that regular gladiators can’t.

Taking the fast, cunning attacks of the spear gladiator, and the fierce protection of the sword and shield, Leonidas is a formidable opponent.

That said, we’ve taken your feedback into account, and are working on ways to make the mythic heroes as powerful and sought-after as they should be!

How to get stone without the Quarry

It’s one of the most important resources for developing your city but can be one of the biggest challenges in Gladiator Heroes. How do you gain stone before unlocking the Quarry?

Grow your city

Once your Headquarters reach level 6 you will unlock the Stone Warehouse which can be used to store stone. The higher the level of the Stone Warehouse, the more stone you can store at any one time.

Stone is used to for constructing new buildings and for upgrading many of the existing buildings in your city once they reach a higher level.

Despite many buildings requiring stone to be upgraded at this point in the game, such as the Caravan, Headquarters, and even the Quarry itself, there are many ways to collect stone without having built the Quarry.

A treasure hunt for stone

The world map is the perfect place to start your hunt for stone.

Train and prepare your gladiators for combat because starting at mission 44 you will earn stone as a prize for successfully completing a mission.

Winning combat can not only provide you with stone rewards through mission prizes, but also gives you the opportunity to find the valuable resource in free chests.

After successful combat of any sort, you will be able to select chests and will receive the exciting prizes that are hidden inside. If luck is on your side, these free chests will be bursting with stone to help you develop your city.

You can also hunt for stone from chests purchased from the Merchant. Use your multiplayer and challenge tokens to open chests and you might be lucky enough to find an overwhelming amount of stone!

Levels of stone

Developing and growing your city is key to finding stone and progressing in the game.

By upgrading and constructing more buildings in your city, you will gain experience points which will contribute to your city level.

When your city levels up you will win a selection of fantastic rewards, and once you reach level 12 you will start to receive stone for levelling up.

Diamonds are a gladiator’s best friend

Without using strategy and patience, gaining stone to upgrade your city before unlocking the Quarry can be a painful challenge.

You don’t have to wait to gain stone to upgrade your buildings if you want to progress faster.

Using gems to pay for the resources you don’t have is a great way to accelerate your city development progress until you eventually unlock the Quarry at Headquarters level 7.

It will cost you around 10 gems to pay for 3000 stone that is needed for some buildings and you can receive gems for free from chest prizes, free chests around the world map, and combat and city rewards.

So it’s time to brush up on your strategy, plan your city development tactics, and get ready for the gladiator treasure challenge of finding that mighty stone resource.

Learn how to position your gladiators for victory

Positioning your gladiators is vital strategy for combat success.  We explore the ins and outs of why positioning can make or break your victory.

One class against them all

Some mission battles or event battles can sometimes have an enemy that consists of solely one class. In these cases, the positioning of your gladiators could be vital to beat the enemy, however positioning will strongly depend on the class you’re up against.

When up against dual-wield enemies such as the Black Mamba, make sure your gladiators start positioned as far away as possible. This will make it less likely for the enemy to reach you and inflict an attack in one move.

Enemies made up of just spearmen are a significant challenge as they can easily attack from afar and retreat from danger. Position your team as far away from these as possible with your spearmen at the back with their backs to the wall and your two-hands gladiators at the front. This will make up for their slow start but allow for quick distance attacks from your spearmen.

The obstacles to glory

Battle arenas that are full of obstacles can be particularly challenging to strategise.

Position your spearmen behind traps or walls so that they can attack the enemy from a distance but make it more challenging for the enemy to reach them.

Two-hand and dual-wield gladiators with jump skills should also be positioned behind traps and obstacles, particularly walls, as they are safe from attacks however can jump over the barricades to reach the enemy.

Make sure your dual-wielders never start positioned in front of traps as they can easily be pushed onto these and receive significant damage.

Sword and shield gladiators may struggle to get past obstacles due to a lack of jump skills and distance attacks. Position these gladiators in front of obstacles or near an obvious exit point so that they can retreat from danger yet also make a strategic attack on the opposition.

Putting the “Kill” in skill

Exploiting the skills of your gladiators in combat can be crucial for your battle plan, however when combining this with the initial gladiator positioning, can create an epic strategy.

Spearmen with conditioning throw skills such as stun and bleed should start positioned at the corners of the arena, with their backs close to the wall. This means enemies can be attacked from all corners without your gladiators having to use their turn for movement points, or risking damage on the first move.

Sword and shield gladiators with block active skills can be positioned closer to the enemy, in a more central position in the arena. This means they can attack in their first moves however block the enemy’s hits without enduring damage.

Gladiators with healing strike skills could be tactically positioned further away from the enemy as to reduce the risk of damaging your healer. This means they can act as a supporter from a distance to reinforce the attackers on the frontline.

A tactical defense team

Leaving your gladiators to fend for themselves in the Games of Glory means you must think about your strategic positioning in the arena.

In empty arenas without obstacles, you should position your dual gladiators with their backs to the wall which will reduce the chance of damage on their sensitive backs in the first moves.

You can also position a two-hands gladiator behind your dual-wields which will not only protect the duals from being pushed into the walls, but will also make up for the two-hand gladiator’s low movement points.

Spearmen are best situated at the far ends or corners of the arena, or behind obstacles should there be any. Their distance attacks mean damage can be inflicted without them having to move.

Positioning your gladiators could make or break your glory in combat and could help you to become the most epic lanista in the kingdom! It’s time to prepare your fighters, forge your weapons, and create the most epic positioning strategy in the lands.

How to strategically defeat The Wall

He’s big, he’s tough, and he’s one of the most intimidating challenges of Gladiator Heroes. Skulking in the darkness of level 45 he’s ready with his henchmen to send you straight to the Infirmary in one hefty hit.

The mighty Wall is a huge two-hand gladiator boss with some of the strongest armour seen in Gladiator Heroes.

Train and level your gladiators, forge your armour and weapons, and with a thorough strategy, you will be able to finally defeat the beast and wish level 45 goodbye.

Your gladiator gateway to victory

It goes without saying that your choice in gladiators can make or break your success against big bosses such as The Wall.

Such a strong boss with such durable armour requires a large amount of damage affect his health and this significantly influences your choice in fighters.

Dual-wield gladiators are not recommended against The Wall as such a strong opponent will defeat the dual-wields in one forceful hit.

These fighting assassins also do not inflict high levels of damage per attack, and therefore will be more likely to have their hits absorbed by The Wall’s solid armour.

Spearmen can be useful in that they can attack from a distance and retreat from danger. With The Wall being a two-hands gladiator, this means the spearman are less likely to get reached by the opponent due to his slow movement points.

Despite this, The Wall is immune to condition attacks unless fired by a very high level gladiator, thus rendering most of the spearman’s active attacks useless.

Sword and shield gladiators with their innate blocking are useful against this strong boss as they have improved defense against his powerful strikes.

Two-hand gladiators are the most useful against The Wall as they use the strength of his own class against him. Despite their low movement, their sturdiness means they won’t be pushed by the enemy, and are more likely to inflict higher damage that will affect the health of the opponent.

A skillful triumph

Using your gladiator’s skills to their advantage can be a tactical advantage to combat against The Wall.

Two-hands gladiators with the armour break conditioning skill can be extremely useful against big bosses with impressive armour that easily absorbs attacks and damage. Using the armour break condition will break The Wall’s armour, making him more susceptible to damage for a certain number of turns, making it easier to injure him.

However, it must be noted that conditioning skills will only work against powerful opponents such as The Wall if they are of high rank and level.

Two-hands Dunce gladiators with the strong attacks active skill will be particularly useful against this opponent as their hits will have increased damage and therefore will improve your chances of defeating The mighty Wall.

A useful strategy to use against The Wall is to use sword and shield gladiators with provoke and block skills. They will be able to distract the enemy whilst also blocking his attacks, whilst the ally gladiators attack the opponent from behind.

The weapons of success

Using weapons in combat can drastically improve your chances of victory.

Using armour and weapons increases your statistics depending on the item equipped, the level and forge status of the items.

Items can have an impact on either your gladiator’s attack, defense, armour, and damage statistics which could be the decider between victory and death in battle.

Against opponents with such strong armour, such as The Wall, weapons with high damage statistics can be extremely useful in combat.

Take advantage of the Forge and improve the damage statistics of your weapons or spend time in combat to increase your chances of winning a strong weapon through a chest.

As we mentioned in a previous blog post, premium gladiator statues come with legendary weapons.

These premium statues could be extremely beneficial against enemies such as The Wall and could be worth saving the gems and the money for forging if it means you will finally defeat the might beast and wish the evil level 45 goodbye.

Prepare to become the ultimate Clan Battle champion

The Clan Battles have officially begun so it’s time to raise your flags high and proud. Prepare your clans with the ultimate fighting strategy and you could be victorious in the battle for triumph and glory.

24 hours later

The epic Clan Battles begin through the Games of Glory page where your clan leaders and generals can start the search for an opposing clan of similar power.

Once an enemy clan has been selected for the battle, you will have 24 hours to get ready for battle.

Using this 24 hours period wisely to prepare your fellow clan members, discuss tactics, and create a strategy, could make or break your victory.

This preparation period is vital for deliberating the ultimate strategy with your clan members to decide which colosseums to attack. Will you all follow the same path and focus on long-duration capture of colosseums with the highest points, or will you all attack all the colosseums to capture as many as possible for a short period of time?

Sharing is caring

As we outlined in a previous blog post, the Clan Building brings some very special time-limited bonuses created from orbs that the clan donate.

The Clan Battle is a perfect opportunity to strategize the use of these bonuses and may persuade you to act for the greater good of the clan and donate some of your orbs.

Discussing this strategy in the clan chat is vital as no one will benefit from orb bonuses if no one donates or if everyone requests.

Having a select few members requesting orbs (particularly the green and orange orbs for defensive and offensive combat bonuses) will be more beneficial to the clan overall than if everyone receives 2 orbs for instance.

If some users use these bonuses during the Clan Battle, their chance of success in the arena increases which will increase the amount of points won and therefore improve your chances of clan victory and incredible prizes!

Command a fantastic victory

An important tactic for battle strategy is consistent communication with your clan. Not only is the clan chat easily accessible on the left of your clan battle screen, but also your clan leaders and generals will have the opportunity to signal colosseums to the clan.

Powerful clan members will be able to choose a colosseum and “command” the clan to attack it.

Using a command on a colosseum will place a flag on it which will act as a signal to the other clan members about where the leaders think would be most tactical to attack.

Up to 5 commands can be made at any one time, and each one will last a limited duration, so think carefully about how to share your strategy.

Power is a dangerous thing

During the Clan Battle the power of clan generals is fully exploited. Clan leaders can promote clan members to become generals, and demote generals to a regular clan member status.

Whilst there is no limit to the amount of generals you clan can have, it should be incorporated into your battle plan.

Too many clan generals and the battle strategy may become confusing or conflicted, with commands not tactically making sense across the arena which could cost you the victory.

Clan leaders have the ultimate power to demote generals from their authority through the Clan Building by tapping on the member’s name.

Will your clan be full of equality and allow for a balanced power and discussion of strategy, or will you prefer a hierarchy of power within your clan?

The ultimate Clan Battle strategy

Whilst there is no perfect strategy for the Clan Battles, and each clan will have a different battle plan, there are certain key factors to consider.

Some colosseums require more points to capture. It can be strategic for all clan members to attack the same place in order to secure a capture, particularly when the colosseum has a higher number of points generated whilst captured.

Make sure you keep an eye on the colosseum point scales as you need to ensure your colosseums remain captured, therefore protecting your pathways across the map.

The colosseums furthest away from your starting side of the arena generate the most points once captured, however they are are more challenging in combat and also require more points to capture. Reaching these and securing them could be the key to victory!

The centre colosseum is also a gold mine for capture, with only one access point, making it more challenging for the enemy to threaten once captured by you.

This colosseum provides some of the highest numbers of points across the arena, and is less challenging to reach due to its central position.

Capturing the access point and the centre colosseum would generate a large amount of points over time, increasing your chances at victory.

The gateway to success

There are also 4 main gateway colosseums in the arena: two on each side, and two on each end of the map.

These provide a single access point on each side of the arena to the other end of the map which means capturing these colosseums provide protection to your end of the map (which would be the most valuable colosseums for your enemy) as they cannot pass a colosseum territorialized by your clan.

The same goes for the opposite side of the map. If you capture both sides of these gateway colosseums, you have access to the enemy’s most valuable colosseums that generate the most points, and also close off the rest of the map for the opposition.

Points mean prizes in the battle of clans

With Clan Battles fully underway, find out exactly how to win the most points and defeat your clan enemies once and for all.

The winning scale

Each colosseum on the Clan Battle map can be captured by you or your opposing clan.

You can only reach colosseums that are further away, once you have captured those closest to your side of the map, with combat increasing in difficulty and granting more points and prizes the further you stray from your side.

In order to occupy a colosseum, you will need to reach a certain amount of points on the scale you will see at the top of the colosseum’s information.

The closer you are to your side of the map, the lower the points required to capture the colosseum will be.

This means that it will be much harder for the enemy clan to territorialize a colosseum that is on your side of the map as they will need a much larger quantity of points.

Health means victory

The amount of points you receive after successful combat depend on the overall health of all your gladiators after the battle.

You will receive 3, 2, or 1, points that contribute towards capturing the colosseum.

This means that defense is equally as important as attack in these battles.

Incorporate defensive gladiators with protective skills into your combat strategy in order to take advantage of the maximum points available from successful fights.

Sword and Shield gladiators with active block and armour increase skills can help defend enemy attacks and reduce damage, whilst gladiators with the healing shout active skills can help heal injured gladiators and improve your chances of achieving the maximum points.

Exploiting passive skills is also crucial in these strategic battles as using gladiators with scavenger, anger, and regeneration can save your gladiators once they have been damaged.

A game of capture the colosseum

Once a colosseum has been captured by a clan, the clan will earn points for every 5 minutes that the arena is in their possession.

These points will differ depending on the colosseum’s distance away from your clan’s side of the map.

The amount of points you receive from the captured colosseum will contribute to your general Clan Battle score and will eventually decide the clan who has won the ultimate victory for glory.

This makes strategy, health, and the subsequent amount of points you have on the colosseum’s scale imperative for Clan Battle success.

Get ready to heal your gladiators, prepare your strategy, and fight to the death in the Clan Battle arena. Who will win the ultimate victory for glory and who will face the ultimate despair in gruelling combat? Let the Clan Battles commence!

The battle of the clans has officially begun

Prepare your clans, develop your fame, and fight for honour – Clan Battles are finally here.

Search for your battle

Start your clan’s fight for victory through the Games of Glory page where your clan’s leaders and generals can start the search for an opposition.

Opposing clans will be selected based on a similar power level to create similar power battles.

It’s all about preparation

Once an enemy clan has been selected for battle, you will have 24 hours to prepare your clan for war.

You will be able to see the war map and its arenas before the battle begins, and the clan chat window will be available from this screen.

Use the clan chat to discuss strategy and let everyone know about the battle. Align your team members with your war plan and get ready for combat madness!

Will you decide to all attack the same bases to keep territories for longer, or will you go for gold and try to get to the most powerful coliseums before the battle is over?

The fight for honour

You will have 24 hours to conquer the arena and gain victory over the opposing clan.

Your clan will start by fighting in the coliseums nearest to your “side” of the war map and the opposing clan will do the same on their “side”.

Once your clan is victorious in a coliseum they will capture it and earn points for every five minutes that the arena is captured.

After defeating the first arenas, you will be able to proceed to invading the adjoining coliseums and advancing towards the enemy clan’s side.

As you move closer to the enemy’s section of the arena ground, the battles will increase in difficulty. The harder the combat, the more prizes are to be won and the more points your clan will win for holding those arenas in your power.

Clan generals and leaders can order their clan members to attack a specific arena which can be implemented into their battle strategy.

Any fame earned during these battles will be clan fame not personal fame.

All that glitters is gold

After all successful combats, you will receive battle prize chests and win the rewards that are revealed within them.

Also, for every successful battle, you will obtain potential prizes that depend on the difficulty of the battle. These prizes are wood, silver, and gold tokens that you can use to purchase chests in the Merchant.

Individual members will earn these prizes depending on how many battles they have accomplished during the war.

If your clan is victorious in the war, you will receive 100% of these prizes and can bask in all your glory.

If your clan loses then all is not lost. You will still receive a proportion of these prizes to compensate your efforts during the gruelling and grizzly war.

So prepare your clans, wave your flags high, and get ready to battle to the death for glory

Everything you need to know about clan season rewards

We take a closer look at how the end-of-season awards are divided up between clan members.

It’s the end of our inaugural clan season and our top five teams are reaping the rewards of a hard-fought month.

But how are the gems divided up between the winning clan members? If you’re in one of the top five clans, you may have noticed that the prize difference between members can be in the thousands.

In this post, we look at this in detail; how and why the huge end-of-season rewards are divided.

They say knowledge is power, so arm yourself with information and fight for the biggest rewards this season!

It all comes down to percentages

When you join a clan, a certain percentage of your fame is accredited to the clan’s overall fame, depending on where you are in relation to other members.

If you fall within the top ten clans members, you’ll contribute a larger amount of fame than the second group of ten members; and so on, and so forth. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Members 1 – 10: 50% fame
  • Members 11 – 20: 30% fame
  • Members 21 – 3: 15% fame
  • Members 31- 40: 10% fame
  • Members 41 – 50: 3% fame

The prizes are divided up similarly. While not an exact match, the percentage of each total prize that each member wins is related to the amount of fame that they contribute to the clan.

So, the top 10 players will receive an even share of just over 40 per cent of the total prize. The bottom 10, or players 41 – 50, will receive just over four per cent.

How to reap the best rewards

So, where to from here lanistae? If you want to win the best rewards at the end of the next clan season, there are a few strategies you can try.

First of all, you’re going to want to get into one of the top clans. These clans will have a minimum fame level to enter, so you should aim for at least 31,000; the base level for the highest rank of God II.

Since all players’ fame resets at the beginning of each season, you’ll begin on an even playing field with the rest of your clan mates.

Fame is gained from multiplayer battles, so play as many of these as you can. Once your gladiators start gaining more XP and better armour and weapons, you can even choose to fight at a higher level and benefit from bigger fame.

You should also make sure that your defense team are always at full health and strategically selected and placed depending on the arena.

By focusing on gaining more fame, you’re not only suring up your shot at a bigger prize; you’re also helping your clan to move up the ranks. A bit of friendly competition against your clan mates can give you an edge where it really matters.

The arrival of the long-awaited Clans update

Grab your friends, show off your flags, and fight for victory – the clan system is finally here.

Where it all begins

All the excitement from clans starts from the Clan Building. Unlock this key to your empire once your Headquarters reaches level five and the fun can really begin.

Once you open the Clan Building you’ll see a list of all the available clans organised first by those set in your language, and followed by those set in English.

Follow the leader

Clans can be joined straight away if they are set to public by the clan’s creator.

However, it must be noted that you can only be part of one clan at a time and there is a maximum of fifty lanistae members in each clan. If you do not like your clan anymore, you can leave at any time.

If the clan creator sets their clan to private, you will need approval from the clan’s leader in order to join.

The clan leader also has the ability to promote clan members to the “general” position, which means they can also accept lanistae requests to be part of their epic clan.

Clan creation

Want to create your very own clan, be in charge of its members, and show off your own very own clan flag?

The process is simple. Through the Clan Building click the “create” button and you’re away.

Decide whether you want your clan to be public or private, and whether you want only the best lanistae to join your team by setting a minimum fame level.

Once created, not only can lanistae search for your clan name through the Clan Building, but you can also share your clan code with friends outside the game so they can be part of your epic team of heroes.

Chat with your clan mates through the in-app clan chat found on the bottom left of the city’s screen and you can share strategies, show off your heroes, and make friends.

Wave your flag

When creating your clan, you choose your legendary clan name and create your flag to flaunt your team’s brand. Explore a wide selection of patterns, logos, shapes, and colours for your flag and go crazy with your masterpiece.

Once you join or create a clan, your clan’s flag will not only fly high above the Clan Building, but will also be shown off at the entrance to your city, as well as in the League of Clans.

The League of Clans

As we outlined in a previous blog, there will be several changes to fame as you know it.

Once you join a clan, your fame will be combined with the other clan members to create your clan fame, which will change every “season”.

This fame will dictate which league you will be in in the League of Clans, and will govern whether you win an incredible sum of gems at the end of the season.

Only the greatest clans will win the biggest gem prizes by the end of the season, so tell your friends, raise your flags, and prepare to battle for the ultimate glory in the brand new clan system.
