The stuff of legends: new ‘mythic hero’ class

After months of whispers on the gladiator grapevine, the mightiest and most fabled of fighters are finally coming to Gladiator Heroes. Make way for the mythic hero gladiators.

Temple of Myths

The excitement will all begin once your Headquarters reach level seven and the Gods deem you worthy to experience the myths and legends that the Temple conceal.

At this point you will unlock the ability to construct an intriguing new building known as the Temple of Myths, which will act as the hub for mythic heroes where you can hire and level up your new fighters.

Hiring fame and victory

Within the mystifying Temple of Myths you can hire your legendary gladiators by using mythic tokens that are specific to each gladiator found in the Temple.

These special tokens can be won through weekly events or found in chests available after successful combat.

Each mythic hero has their own mythic token and requires 25 tokens to be hired from the Temple.

Only the most victorious of lanistae are worthy of experiencing the stuff of legends so it will take some hard work and determination to find enough tokens to release the epic unknown.
However, if you simply cannot wait to get your hands on a mighty Leonidas then have no fear. You can also pay for mystic tokens in the Temple of Myths by using gems.

‘300’ legends in the Temple

Hiding inside this new building is your first glimpse of a renowned fighter that all gladiators aspire to be.

With the distance attacking methods of a Hunter and the innate defence skills of the Guardian, Leonidas will take you closer to glory than you’ve ever been before.

Once hired, this mighty fighter will immediately come with a set of 5 incredible skills which will be constant between each Leonidas.

It’s the mightiest set of skills for the mightiest of gladiators so get grinding to get your hands on the legend that is Leonidas to see just how incredible his selection of skills will be.

Mythic heroes will also always have the same appearance, and will always be the rarest of fighters with 5 stars so get ready for the fight of a lifetime!

Gladiators from the Temple of Myths will also not equip any weapons or armour and always maintain full training so you don’t need to worry about ensuring they practise their combat every 24 hours.

As normal, Leonidas’ rank when hired will depend on the average rank of your other gladiators. To ensure you hire Leonidas at a specific rank you need all your other gladiators to have that same rank.

Levelling these legendary fighters will take three steps which cost an incremental price of gold per step. After all, glory comes at a cost.

As mythic heroes immediately come with all five skills, when you level up your Leonidas you won’t gain any new skills. However, once you reach certain levels and ranks your skills will level up making them more powerful or giving them more turns to be used.

Legendary restrictions

The Gods will be watching with pride when they see your mythic heroes fighting for their empire in the arenas but obviously the limelight must always be on these epic fighters.

As a result, you are only able to use one legendary fighter as one of your three gladiators in combat.

You can still use regular gladiators to support your main man in the arena but can’t use more than one legendary fighter in the same battle; that just wouldn’t be fair on the enemy!

As well as this, the empire deems it unfair to use mythic heroes in restricted combat.

If the battle only allows one gladiator, only spearmen or any other type of constraint in the arena, you won’t be able to place your legendary fighter on the battlefield.

So it’s time to start grinding the fields of combat for those special mystic tokens and make a mighty stash of gems and gold to prepare for the most legendary gladiator that Gladiator Heroes has ever seen.

How to get stone without the Quarry

It’s one of the most important resources for developing your city but can be one of the biggest challenges in Gladiator Heroes. How do you gain stone before unlocking the Quarry?

Grow your city

Once your Headquarters reach level 6 you will unlock the Stone Warehouse which can be used to store stone. The higher the level of the Stone Warehouse, the more stone you can store at any one time.

Stone is used to for constructing new buildings and for upgrading many of the existing buildings in your city once they reach a higher level.

Despite many buildings requiring stone to be upgraded at this point in the game, such as the Caravan, Headquarters, and even the Quarry itself, there are many ways to collect stone without having built the Quarry.

A treasure hunt for stone

The world map is the perfect place to start your hunt for stone.

Train and prepare your gladiators for combat because starting at mission 44 you will earn stone as a prize for successfully completing a mission.

Winning combat can not only provide you with stone rewards through mission prizes, but also gives you the opportunity to find the valuable resource in free chests.

After successful combat of any sort, you will be able to select chests and will receive the exciting prizes that are hidden inside. If luck is on your side, these free chests will be bursting with stone to help you develop your city.

You can also hunt for stone from chests purchased from the Merchant. Use your multiplayer and challenge tokens to open chests and you might be lucky enough to find an overwhelming amount of stone!

Levels of stone

Developing and growing your city is key to finding stone and progressing in the game.

By upgrading and constructing more buildings in your city, you will gain experience points which will contribute to your city level.

When your city levels up you will win a selection of fantastic rewards, and once you reach level 12 you will start to receive stone for levelling up.

Diamonds are a gladiator’s best friend

Without using strategy and patience, gaining stone to upgrade your city before unlocking the Quarry can be a painful challenge.

You don’t have to wait to gain stone to upgrade your buildings if you want to progress faster.

Using gems to pay for the resources you don’t have is a great way to accelerate your city development progress until you eventually unlock the Quarry at Headquarters level 7.

It will cost you around 10 gems to pay for 3000 stone that is needed for some buildings and you can receive gems for free from chest prizes, free chests around the world map, and combat and city rewards.

So it’s time to brush up on your strategy, plan your city development tactics, and get ready for the gladiator treasure challenge of finding that mighty stone resource.

Learn how to position your gladiators for victory

Positioning your gladiators is vital strategy for combat success.  We explore the ins and outs of why positioning can make or break your victory.

One class against them all

Some mission battles or event battles can sometimes have an enemy that consists of solely one class. In these cases, the positioning of your gladiators could be vital to beat the enemy, however positioning will strongly depend on the class you’re up against.

When up against dual-wield enemies such as the Black Mamba, make sure your gladiators start positioned as far away as possible. This will make it less likely for the enemy to reach you and inflict an attack in one move.

Enemies made up of just spearmen are a significant challenge as they can easily attack from afar and retreat from danger. Position your team as far away from these as possible with your spearmen at the back with their backs to the wall and your two-hands gladiators at the front. This will make up for their slow start but allow for quick distance attacks from your spearmen.

The obstacles to glory

Battle arenas that are full of obstacles can be particularly challenging to strategise.

Position your spearmen behind traps or walls so that they can attack the enemy from a distance but make it more challenging for the enemy to reach them.

Two-hand and dual-wield gladiators with jump skills should also be positioned behind traps and obstacles, particularly walls, as they are safe from attacks however can jump over the barricades to reach the enemy.

Make sure your dual-wielders never start positioned in front of traps as they can easily be pushed onto these and receive significant damage.

Sword and shield gladiators may struggle to get past obstacles due to a lack of jump skills and distance attacks. Position these gladiators in front of obstacles or near an obvious exit point so that they can retreat from danger yet also make a strategic attack on the opposition.

Putting the “Kill” in skill

Exploiting the skills of your gladiators in combat can be crucial for your battle plan, however when combining this with the initial gladiator positioning, can create an epic strategy.

Spearmen with conditioning throw skills such as stun and bleed should start positioned at the corners of the arena, with their backs close to the wall. This means enemies can be attacked from all corners without your gladiators having to use their turn for movement points, or risking damage on the first move.

Sword and shield gladiators with block active skills can be positioned closer to the enemy, in a more central position in the arena. This means they can attack in their first moves however block the enemy’s hits without enduring damage.

Gladiators with healing strike skills could be tactically positioned further away from the enemy as to reduce the risk of damaging your healer. This means they can act as a supporter from a distance to reinforce the attackers on the frontline.

A tactical defense team

Leaving your gladiators to fend for themselves in the Games of Glory means you must think about your strategic positioning in the arena.

In empty arenas without obstacles, you should position your dual gladiators with their backs to the wall which will reduce the chance of damage on their sensitive backs in the first moves.

You can also position a two-hands gladiator behind your dual-wields which will not only protect the duals from being pushed into the walls, but will also make up for the two-hand gladiator’s low movement points.

Spearmen are best situated at the far ends or corners of the arena, or behind obstacles should there be any. Their distance attacks mean damage can be inflicted without them having to move.

Positioning your gladiators could make or break your glory in combat and could help you to become the most epic lanista in the kingdom! It’s time to prepare your fighters, forge your weapons, and create the most epic positioning strategy in the lands.

Everything you need to know about clan season rewards

We take a closer look at how the end-of-season awards are divided up between clan members.

It’s the end of our inaugural clan season and our top five teams are reaping the rewards of a hard-fought month.

But how are the gems divided up between the winning clan members? If you’re in one of the top five clans, you may have noticed that the prize difference between members can be in the thousands.

In this post, we look at this in detail; how and why the huge end-of-season rewards are divided.

They say knowledge is power, so arm yourself with information and fight for the biggest rewards this season!

It all comes down to percentages

When you join a clan, a certain percentage of your fame is accredited to the clan’s overall fame, depending on where you are in relation to other members.

If you fall within the top ten clans members, you’ll contribute a larger amount of fame than the second group of ten members; and so on, and so forth. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Members 1 – 10: 50% fame
  • Members 11 – 20: 30% fame
  • Members 21 – 3: 15% fame
  • Members 31- 40: 10% fame
  • Members 41 – 50: 3% fame

The prizes are divided up similarly. While not an exact match, the percentage of each total prize that each member wins is related to the amount of fame that they contribute to the clan.

So, the top 10 players will receive an even share of just over 40 per cent of the total prize. The bottom 10, or players 41 – 50, will receive just over four per cent.

How to reap the best rewards

So, where to from here lanistae? If you want to win the best rewards at the end of the next clan season, there are a few strategies you can try.

First of all, you’re going to want to get into one of the top clans. These clans will have a minimum fame level to enter, so you should aim for at least 31,000; the base level for the highest rank of God II.

Since all players’ fame resets at the beginning of each season, you’ll begin on an even playing field with the rest of your clan mates.

Fame is gained from multiplayer battles, so play as many of these as you can. Once your gladiators start gaining more XP and better armour and weapons, you can even choose to fight at a higher level and benefit from bigger fame.

You should also make sure that your defense team are always at full health and strategically selected and placed depending on the arena.

By focusing on gaining more fame, you’re not only suring up your shot at a bigger prize; you’re also helping your clan to move up the ranks. A bit of friendly competition against your clan mates can give you an edge where it really matters.

The arrival of the long-awaited Clans update

Grab your friends, show off your flags, and fight for victory – the clan system is finally here.

Where it all begins

All the excitement from clans starts from the Clan Building. Unlock this key to your empire once your Headquarters reaches level five and the fun can really begin.

Once you open the Clan Building you’ll see a list of all the available clans organised first by those set in your language, and followed by those set in English.

Follow the leader

Clans can be joined straight away if they are set to public by the clan’s creator.

However, it must be noted that you can only be part of one clan at a time and there is a maximum of fifty lanistae members in each clan. If you do not like your clan anymore, you can leave at any time.

If the clan creator sets their clan to private, you will need approval from the clan’s leader in order to join.

The clan leader also has the ability to promote clan members to the “general” position, which means they can also accept lanistae requests to be part of their epic clan.

Clan creation

Want to create your very own clan, be in charge of its members, and show off your own very own clan flag?

The process is simple. Through the Clan Building click the “create” button and you’re away.

Decide whether you want your clan to be public or private, and whether you want only the best lanistae to join your team by setting a minimum fame level.

Once created, not only can lanistae search for your clan name through the Clan Building, but you can also share your clan code with friends outside the game so they can be part of your epic team of heroes.

Chat with your clan mates through the in-app clan chat found on the bottom left of the city’s screen and you can share strategies, show off your heroes, and make friends.

Wave your flag

When creating your clan, you choose your legendary clan name and create your flag to flaunt your team’s brand. Explore a wide selection of patterns, logos, shapes, and colours for your flag and go crazy with your masterpiece.

Once you join or create a clan, your clan’s flag will not only fly high above the Clan Building, but will also be shown off at the entrance to your city, as well as in the League of Clans.

The League of Clans

As we outlined in a previous blog, there will be several changes to fame as you know it.

Once you join a clan, your fame will be combined with the other clan members to create your clan fame, which will change every “season”.

This fame will dictate which league you will be in in the League of Clans, and will govern whether you win an incredible sum of gems at the end of the season.

Only the greatest clans will win the biggest gem prizes by the end of the season, so tell your friends, raise your flags, and prepare to battle for the ultimate glory in the brand new clan system.
