How to get stone without the Quarry

It’s one of the most important resources for developing your city but can be one of the biggest challenges in Gladiator Heroes. How do you gain stone before unlocking the Quarry?

Grow your city

Once your Headquarters reach level 6 you will unlock the Stone Warehouse which can be used to store stone. The higher the level of the Stone Warehouse, the more stone you can store at any one time.

Stone is used to for constructing new buildings and for upgrading many of the existing buildings in your city once they reach a higher level.

Despite many buildings requiring stone to be upgraded at this point in the game, such as the Caravan, Headquarters, and even the Quarry itself, there are many ways to collect stone without having built the Quarry.

A treasure hunt for stone

The world map is the perfect place to start your hunt for stone.

Train and prepare your gladiators for combat because starting at mission 44 you will earn stone as a prize for successfully completing a mission.

Winning combat can not only provide you with stone rewards through mission prizes, but also gives you the opportunity to find the valuable resource in free chests.

After successful combat of any sort, you will be able to select chests and will receive the exciting prizes that are hidden inside. If luck is on your side, these free chests will be bursting with stone to help you develop your city.

You can also hunt for stone from chests purchased from the Merchant. Use your multiplayer and challenge tokens to open chests and you might be lucky enough to find an overwhelming amount of stone!

Levels of stone

Developing and growing your city is key to finding stone and progressing in the game.

By upgrading and constructing more buildings in your city, you will gain experience points which will contribute to your city level.

When your city levels up you will win a selection of fantastic rewards, and once you reach level 12 you will start to receive stone for levelling up.

Diamonds are a gladiator’s best friend

Without using strategy and patience, gaining stone to upgrade your city before unlocking the Quarry can be a painful challenge.

You don’t have to wait to gain stone to upgrade your buildings if you want to progress faster.

Using gems to pay for the resources you don’t have is a great way to accelerate your city development progress until you eventually unlock the Quarry at Headquarters level 7.

It will cost you around 10 gems to pay for 3000 stone that is needed for some buildings and you can receive gems for free from chest prizes, free chests around the world map, and combat and city rewards.

So it’s time to brush up on your strategy, plan your city development tactics, and get ready for the gladiator treasure challenge of finding that mighty stone resource.

Everything you need to know about clan season rewards

We take a closer look at how the end-of-season awards are divided up between clan members.

It’s the end of our inaugural clan season and our top five teams are reaping the rewards of a hard-fought month.

But how are the gems divided up between the winning clan members? If you’re in one of the top five clans, you may have noticed that the prize difference between members can be in the thousands.

In this post, we look at this in detail; how and why the huge end-of-season rewards are divided.

They say knowledge is power, so arm yourself with information and fight for the biggest rewards this season!

It all comes down to percentages

When you join a clan, a certain percentage of your fame is accredited to the clan’s overall fame, depending on where you are in relation to other members.

If you fall within the top ten clans members, you’ll contribute a larger amount of fame than the second group of ten members; and so on, and so forth. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Members 1 – 10: 50% fame
  • Members 11 – 20: 30% fame
  • Members 21 – 3: 15% fame
  • Members 31- 40: 10% fame
  • Members 41 – 50: 3% fame

The prizes are divided up similarly. While not an exact match, the percentage of each total prize that each member wins is related to the amount of fame that they contribute to the clan.

So, the top 10 players will receive an even share of just over 40 per cent of the total prize. The bottom 10, or players 41 – 50, will receive just over four per cent.

How to reap the best rewards

So, where to from here lanistae? If you want to win the best rewards at the end of the next clan season, there are a few strategies you can try.

First of all, you’re going to want to get into one of the top clans. These clans will have a minimum fame level to enter, so you should aim for at least 31,000; the base level for the highest rank of God II.

Since all players’ fame resets at the beginning of each season, you’ll begin on an even playing field with the rest of your clan mates.

Fame is gained from multiplayer battles, so play as many of these as you can. Once your gladiators start gaining more XP and better armour and weapons, you can even choose to fight at a higher level and benefit from bigger fame.

You should also make sure that your defense team are always at full health and strategically selected and placed depending on the arena.

By focusing on gaining more fame, you’re not only suring up your shot at a bigger prize; you’re also helping your clan to move up the ranks. A bit of friendly competition against your clan mates can give you an edge where it really matters.

The arrival of the long-awaited Clans update

Grab your friends, show off your flags, and fight for victory – the clan system is finally here.

Where it all begins

All the excitement from clans starts from the Clan Building. Unlock this key to your empire once your Headquarters reaches level five and the fun can really begin.

Once you open the Clan Building you’ll see a list of all the available clans organised first by those set in your language, and followed by those set in English.

Follow the leader

Clans can be joined straight away if they are set to public by the clan’s creator.

However, it must be noted that you can only be part of one clan at a time and there is a maximum of fifty lanistae members in each clan. If you do not like your clan anymore, you can leave at any time.

If the clan creator sets their clan to private, you will need approval from the clan’s leader in order to join.

The clan leader also has the ability to promote clan members to the “general” position, which means they can also accept lanistae requests to be part of their epic clan.

Clan creation

Want to create your very own clan, be in charge of its members, and show off your own very own clan flag?

The process is simple. Through the Clan Building click the “create” button and you’re away.

Decide whether you want your clan to be public or private, and whether you want only the best lanistae to join your team by setting a minimum fame level.

Once created, not only can lanistae search for your clan name through the Clan Building, but you can also share your clan code with friends outside the game so they can be part of your epic team of heroes.

Chat with your clan mates through the in-app clan chat found on the bottom left of the city’s screen and you can share strategies, show off your heroes, and make friends.

Wave your flag

When creating your clan, you choose your legendary clan name and create your flag to flaunt your team’s brand. Explore a wide selection of patterns, logos, shapes, and colours for your flag and go crazy with your masterpiece.

Once you join or create a clan, your clan’s flag will not only fly high above the Clan Building, but will also be shown off at the entrance to your city, as well as in the League of Clans.

The League of Clans

As we outlined in a previous blog, there will be several changes to fame as you know it.

Once you join a clan, your fame will be combined with the other clan members to create your clan fame, which will change every “season”.

This fame will dictate which league you will be in in the League of Clans, and will govern whether you win an incredible sum of gems at the end of the season.

Only the greatest clans will win the biggest gem prizes by the end of the season, so tell your friends, raise your flags, and prepare to battle for the ultimate glory in the brand new clan system.

Live your combats from the front row with augmented reality

Meet your gladiators face-to-face. Live an epic battle from the front row. Now’s your chance to step into the arena in augmented reality.

The crowd roars for blood. The clangs of steel-on-steel are the only sounds that break the nervous silence, as your companions and competitors jostle for position in the dark passageway. Slowly, the wooden gates begin to creak open, the sunlight reflecting off the gladiators’ armour like flashes of mercury filing out into the arena.

You’re in Ancient Rome. You’re looking down into the great colosseum. You’re in a coffee shop, watching a legendary gladiator battle play out on the tabletop in front of you.

Augmented reality is the future of mobile gaming, and Gladiator Heroes has become one of the first mobile games to implement it using iOS 11’s new ARkit.

You can now watch your battles in real-life settings, whether it’s in miniature on a table, or life-sized on the street; you can get a full, 360-degree view of the fight, or move in close to the action.

Plus, with the unique combination of Apple’s ARkit and ReplayKit, you can become the director of your own combats. Shoot, save and share your gameplay with fellow lanistae around the world.

The addition of augmented reality to Gladiator Heroes has been one of our biggest projects to date: last month, our development team were among just a handful selected to attend a special ARkit workshop at Apple’s Paris headquarters.

From there, they’ve developed two ways for you to immerse yourself in the game; by viewing battles in real-life settings, or by placing their gladiators in various poses.

With both options, you can physically move around to see your gladiators, and their battles, from all angles.

What you do in life echoes in virtual reality, so charge up your phone, aim and shoot; the fight has begun.

How to use augmented reality in Gladiator Heroes

Getting iOS 11

First, make sure you’ve got Apple’s latest operating system installed on your device. The software is available for the iPhone 6S and up, as well as the 6th-generation iPod Touch, and the latest iPads.

Update Gladiator Heroes

Go to the App Store and update to version 1.9.2 of Gladiator Heroes.

How to see your gladiator in AR

Go to the gladiator residence and select the gladiator you’d like to see in augmented reality. Press the AR icon on the right-hand side of your gladiator. Move your phone over a flat, clear surface to initiate the AR. You can rotate your gladiator with two fingers, make him bigger or smaller, and change his pose or position.

How to see your battle in AR

Place your gladiators into the arena. Select the AR button in the top right-hand side and move your device slightly to activate AR. Scale and reposition the arena to where you’d like it, and start the battle! You can move in on different characters during the fight to get close to the action, or physically rotate around the battle.

How to record your battles in AR

Before opening the AR function, select ‘record combat’ from the top right-hand corner. Once the battle finishes, you will have the option of replaying, saving or sharing your video.

How to beat the Undertaker in Gladiator Heroes

He’s big, bad, and notoriously hard to beat; lurking in level 61 and ready to send your gladiators on a one way trip to the infirmary.

He’s the Undertaker, and he’s shaped up to become one of the toughest opponents to beat in Gladiator Heroes.

But, with the right gladiators and the right tactics, he can still be overcome. In this guide, we outline how you can send the Undertaker back to the underworld, once and for all.

Start with your gladiators

Sword and shield gladiators are the best class to send into battle against such a strong opponent, as they are defensively the strongest fighters and the only ones capable of clocking back attacks. It also helps if they’re equipped with the block skill, armour increase, back protection and anger (regain 25% health on ally death).

If your HQ is past level 11 and you’ve already gained your first spear gladiator, he’s also a useful tactician to put into battle. A serial hit-and-run artist, the lancer will attack from afar before retreating from the arc of the Undertaker’s blow. The stopping or stun throw are particularly strong skills that’ll help your other sword and shield fighter get an edge over this brutish beast.

It’s all in the positioning

As you’ve probably learnt by now, tactical positioning is the secret to bringing down even the highest-powered opponent.

While the ‘standard’ order of initiative is usually dual weapons; spear; sword and shield; two hands, due to his high level of attack, the Undertaker always moves first. So, to make sure you’re the first one to attack, place your gladiators at the opposite end of the arena. The Undertaker will spend his first move approaching your fighters, meaning that you’ll be able to deal the first blow.

However, be careful not to place them too far away; otherwise you’ll also waste your first turn moving towards the opponent. Strike the right balance; about halfway between the back wall and the centre line, and close to the side walls. If you place two gladiators on one side and another on the other, it’s more likely that you’ll get a good few back attacks in, too.

A higher power

It goes without saying that you should make sure your fighting gladiators are fully trained before going into combat. Remember, you won’t need to spend resources on training your gladiators if they all fight at least once a day; this will refresh their training and they won’t lose any bars.

All in all, you should aim for a combined power of over 2,000 to take on the Undertaker, with at least one of your gladiators in rank 3. To quickly promote your gladiators, it’s all about finding a map mission that strikes the perfect balance between high XP and low health loss.

You should be aiming for a minimum of 100 XP per combat, and as little loss of health as possible. It’s worth noting, however, that your health is automatically returned to 100% once you level up, so try to push your gladiators as far as you can to keep them, and your resources, out of the infirmary.

If at first you don’t succeed…

And finally: try, try, try again. Single-opponent levels, such as the Undertaker, Winter Beast and God’s Hunter, are notoriously challenging moments in the game which will force you to farm for XP and fight for better weapons.

But, with enough training, dedication, and a lot of trial and error, you’ll send the Undertaker to meet Pluto in the Underworld.

The next Gladiator Heroes Update has Arrived

Months in the making and weeks of waiting; finally the next Gladiator Heroes update is here!

We’ve been dropping hints across our social media channels and in chats with fans about what the next round of improvements will include, and it’s now time for all you excited lanistae to get back into the game and test out the new features.

We’ve outlined what this update includes below; don’t forget to send us your feedback and discuss the changes with other lanistae on our social channels!

A revolutionised multiplayer system with better prizes to boot

You’ll now have more to aim for in multiplayer battles, with a ticket system being introduced to allow your gladiators to fight at a higher level and gain better rewards.

Your gladiators will emerge victorious from their multiplayer duels with a set of tickets in hand, varying in value according to combat difficulty. You then use these tickets to send your gladiators into higher-ranked battles; the more difficult the battle, the higher reward value.

These new, multiplayer rewards come in the form of tokens – gold, silver or wood – which you can then use to purchase chests in the new merchant shop. They’ll contain multiple prizes and resources, rather than just the singular prizes received in the chests of old.

New combats added to the map

A rival lanista is infringing on your city limits. Take on his gladiators in battle, and your victories will echo throughout eternity!

On the regular map, we’ve added a new combat system where you’ll be able to take on rival gladiators at varying difficulty levels. Just like with the multiplayer system, you’ll receive gold, silver or wood tokens to use in the merchant shop.

Forge your legendary status

Since the introduction of the forge, lanista from across Ancient Rome have been sharpening and shining their gladiators’ weapons, making them close to invincible in battle.

Now, you’ll need to win special forge stones to be able to fuse weapons and armour; giving them – and your gladiators – higher rankings.

Reward repairs

Your battle rewards will now be saved as soon as you earn them, avoiding rare cases where they were sometimes lost if the app was closed.

Plus, we’re making the rewards screen a little more exciting; adding a few bells and whistles to make your wins just that little bit extra special.

A lanista knows best

In Ancient Rome, citizens relied on public graffiti to keep up-to-date with the daily news. Luckily for our modern-day lanistae, news and information can be received in real-time across our Gladiator Heroes social media channels.

Be the first to know about new updates, get exclusive video content, and chat live with our developers on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels.
