How to strategically defeat The Wall

He’s big, he’s tough, and he’s one of the most intimidating challenges of Gladiator Heroes. Skulking in the darkness of level 45 he’s ready with his henchmen to send you straight to the Infirmary in one hefty hit.

The mighty Wall is a huge two-hand gladiator boss with some of the strongest armour seen in Gladiator Heroes.

Train and level your gladiators, forge your armour and weapons, and with a thorough strategy, you will be able to finally defeat the beast and wish level 45 goodbye.

Your gladiator gateway to victory

It goes without saying that your choice in gladiators can make or break your success against big bosses such as The Wall.

Such a strong boss with such durable armour requires a large amount of damage affect his health and this significantly influences your choice in fighters.

Dual-wield gladiators are not recommended against The Wall as such a strong opponent will defeat the dual-wields in one forceful hit.

These fighting assassins also do not inflict high levels of damage per attack, and therefore will be more likely to have their hits absorbed by The Wall’s solid armour.

Spearmen can be useful in that they can attack from a distance and retreat from danger. With The Wall being a two-hands gladiator, this means the spearman are less likely to get reached by the opponent due to his slow movement points.

Despite this, The Wall is immune to condition attacks unless fired by a very high level gladiator, thus rendering most of the spearman’s active attacks useless.

Sword and shield gladiators with their innate blocking are useful against this strong boss as they have improved defense against his powerful strikes.

Two-hand gladiators are the most useful against The Wall as they use the strength of his own class against him. Despite their low movement, their sturdiness means they won’t be pushed by the enemy, and are more likely to inflict higher damage that will affect the health of the opponent.

A skillful triumph

Using your gladiator’s skills to their advantage can be a tactical advantage to combat against The Wall.

Two-hands gladiators with the armour break conditioning skill can be extremely useful against big bosses with impressive armour that easily absorbs attacks and damage. Using the armour break condition will break The Wall’s armour, making him more susceptible to damage for a certain number of turns, making it easier to injure him.

However, it must be noted that conditioning skills will only work against powerful opponents such as The Wall if they are of high rank and level.

Two-hands Dunce gladiators with the strong attacks active skill will be particularly useful against this opponent as their hits will have increased damage and therefore will improve your chances of defeating The mighty Wall.

A useful strategy to use against The Wall is to use sword and shield gladiators with provoke and block skills. They will be able to distract the enemy whilst also blocking his attacks, whilst the ally gladiators attack the opponent from behind.

The weapons of success

Using weapons in combat can drastically improve your chances of victory.

Using armour and weapons increases your statistics depending on the item equipped, the level and forge status of the items.

Items can have an impact on either your gladiator’s attack, defense, armour, and damage statistics which could be the decider between victory and death in battle.

Against opponents with such strong armour, such as The Wall, weapons with high damage statistics can be extremely useful in combat.

Take advantage of the Forge and improve the damage statistics of your weapons or spend time in combat to increase your chances of winning a strong weapon through a chest.

As we mentioned in a previous blog post, premium gladiator statues come with legendary weapons.

These premium statues could be extremely beneficial against enemies such as The Wall and could be worth saving the gems and the money for forging if it means you will finally defeat the might beast and wish the evil level 45 goodbye.

The battle of the clans has officially begun

Prepare your clans, develop your fame, and fight for honour – Clan Battles are finally here.

Search for your battle

Start your clan’s fight for victory through the Games of Glory page where your clan’s leaders and generals can start the search for an opposition.

Opposing clans will be selected based on a similar power level to create similar power battles.

It’s all about preparation

Once an enemy clan has been selected for battle, you will have 24 hours to prepare your clan for war.

You will be able to see the war map and its arenas before the battle begins, and the clan chat window will be available from this screen.

Use the clan chat to discuss strategy and let everyone know about the battle. Align your team members with your war plan and get ready for combat madness!

Will you decide to all attack the same bases to keep territories for longer, or will you go for gold and try to get to the most powerful coliseums before the battle is over?

The fight for honour

You will have 24 hours to conquer the arena and gain victory over the opposing clan.

Your clan will start by fighting in the coliseums nearest to your “side” of the war map and the opposing clan will do the same on their “side”.

Once your clan is victorious in a coliseum they will capture it and earn points for every five minutes that the arena is captured.

After defeating the first arenas, you will be able to proceed to invading the adjoining coliseums and advancing towards the enemy clan’s side.

As you move closer to the enemy’s section of the arena ground, the battles will increase in difficulty. The harder the combat, the more prizes are to be won and the more points your clan will win for holding those arenas in your power.

Clan generals and leaders can order their clan members to attack a specific arena which can be implemented into their battle strategy.

Any fame earned during these battles will be clan fame not personal fame.

All that glitters is gold

After all successful combats, you will receive battle prize chests and win the rewards that are revealed within them.

Also, for every successful battle, you will obtain potential prizes that depend on the difficulty of the battle. These prizes are wood, silver, and gold tokens that you can use to purchase chests in the Merchant.

Individual members will earn these prizes depending on how many battles they have accomplished during the war.

If your clan is victorious in the war, you will receive 100% of these prizes and can bask in all your glory.

If your clan loses then all is not lost. You will still receive a proportion of these prizes to compensate your efforts during the gruelling and grizzly war.

So prepare your clans, wave your flags high, and get ready to battle to the death for glory

Brand new updates mean shiny new orb bonuses

With the brand new Gladiator Heroes update come shiny new bonuses. Read on to find out all about the exciting new orb bonuses that come from the Orb Bonuses tab in your Clan Building.

All things shiny and full of bonuses

Orbs can be found from chests after successful combat or the Merchant and are usually stored in the Sculptor to make bonuses for your city.

When you have too many orbs in the Sculptor that you aren’t using, you can donate them to your fellow clan members for them to create specific Clan Building orb bonuses just for them.

The only orbs that can be used for these special time-limited bonuses are those donated to you by the clan and that are stored in the Clan Building.

These exciting bonuses are the same type as those created by statues from the Sculptor, however they are time specific and only one can be active at a time. These shiny bonuses are as follows:

  • Green Vulcan orbs grant defensive bonuses during combat for a limited time
  • Orange Mars orbs grant offensive bonuses during combat for a limited time
  • Blue Maia orbs increase production for a limited time
  • Pink Juno orbs reduce healing and training times for 24 hours

Feeling generous = donate

You can now donate orbs from your Sculptor to your fellow clan members if you are feeling particularly generous.

The orbs you donate to clan members will be stored in their Clan Building and can only be used for their time-limited bonuses that depend on their orb amount and Clan Building level.

The only orbs that you can donate are those from your Sculptor and therefore you cannot donate orbs previously donated to you that are stored in the Clan Building.

Ask thy neighbour

Running low on orbs in the Clan Building and want to take advantage of these exciting new bonuses?

You can now ask your clan members to donate their Sculptor orbs for you to use in the Clan Building.

You can request orbs from your fellow clan members through your Orb Bonus tab in the Clan Building which will send a donation request message to the clan chat. You then have to simply wait and see how generous your fellow clan members are feeling.

Storage of Orbs:

The total number of orbs you can store in the Clan Building is unique to your account and relates to the upgrade level of your own Clan Building.

Upgrading your Clan Building will thus increase your storage for orbs in the building.

Each type of orb will take up a different amount of storage and therefore contributes a different amount to the bonuses. The amount that they are worth is as follows:

  • Small orbs = 1
  • Medium orbs = 3
  • Large orbs = 5

Strategy:

It’s safe to say that requesting orbs from your clan members may not always be successful and that you obviously won’t be donating orbs to everyone who asks. This is where you need to take strategy into consideration.

Now that you can visit your fellow clan members’ cities, which we outlined in another blog post, you can suss out who deserves your sparkling orbs and change up your tactics so you look more appealing to receive donations.

Training and healing all your gladiators, upgrading all your buildings to their maximum level, and taking full advantage of the Sculptor are some of the ways you can strategise your own city and evaluate your clan members.

So it’s time to save up your orbs, release your generosity and take full advantage of the glimmering bonuses that the Clan Building has to offer.

Using order of initiative in your ultimate combat strategy

From lightning-speed assassins to delayed defenders, we explore everything that affects the order of initiative, and how you can incorporate it to create the ultimate strategy.

Movement + (attack – armour) = initiative

Your gladiator’s statistics are influenced by a wide range of factors. In terms of initiative, your gladiators’ movement stats are the most important factor.

This means that if your gladiators are all the same level and rank, the class with the highest movement stats will move first.

The different classes’ movement stats are as follows:

  • Dual-Wields: 4
  • Sword and Shield: 3
  • Spearman: 3
  • Two-Hands: 2

It’s not all face value

Looking at the movement stats above, we can see that the Dual-Wield gladiator will always move faster and further than the Two-Hands gladiator, for instance, and these movement statistics will never change, whether your gladiator is a higher level or not.

However, if your gladiators are in different levels and ranks, their attack statistics will also contribute to their initiative.

Let’s compare two Sword and Shield gladiators; the gladiator with the higher attack (minus armour) will have more initiative and therefore move first.

If, however, you have a Dual-Wield gladiator at rank 2 and a Sword and Shield gladiator at rank 5, it could be that the Sword and Shield attack points are that much higher than the Dual’s. In this case, this will outweigh the Dual’s higher movement points.

This would then cause the Sword and Shield gladiator to have higher initiative, and therefore move before the Dual.

Taking armour into account

Armour can also play a significant role in the initiative of gladiators. The armour statistic of your gladiators will be removed from the attack statistic.

Let’s say you have 2 Dual Wield gladiators at the same rank and level, however one has more armour, and therefore a higher armour statistic than the other. Whilst this may increase their attack statistic slightly, it will reduce its movement statistic overall compared to the other Dual.

Implement initiative in your combat strategy

Taking advantage of the order of initiative in combat can give you an incredible strategic advantage in your battles, so here are a few things to bare in mind in order to get closer to the ultimate victory.

Initial placement could make or break your combat success

Dual-Wield gladiators will often be the fastest gladiators in combat. If your opponent is using other gladiator classes, try placing your Duals so that they are close enough to reach the enemy, whilst the enemy is too far to reach them.

This will mean your Dual will be able to make the first attack and potentially retreat to danger without being damaged first.

It also helps if you put your Duals directly in front of your Two-Hands gladiators as their speed will make up for the Two-Hands’ slow start.

Take full advantage of your gladiator’s skills to exploit movement

If your Two-Hands gladiators have jump skills such as Jump Area Attack, Stun Jump, or Jump Shockwave, try placing them further away from the enemy.

This can be beneficial as they can jump to reach the enemy whilst implementing an attack.
This can significantly make up for their low movement points and reduces time wasted for the gladiator to move towards the enemy.

If your HQ is past level 11 and you’ve already hired a mighty Spearman, they can be extremely tactical to use against slower gladiators. With their spear throwing skills, they can exploit movement points and attack the enemy without having to move anywhere at all.

Taking full advantage of your gladiator’s skills and movement can be the deciding reason whether your team of fighters fights their way to the ultimate glory, or ultimately dies trying.
